Ordering

You can use the shopping cart, email your order through to us at info@makiwarapost.co.uk or phone on either 01483 459344 or 07948 277854 to discuss the specifics of your order. When ordering posts please make it clear whether you wish one of our stock lengths (58") or have the post to be cut to a specific length.

Try before you buy

I normally keep several posts in different configurations available for my own training here in Guildford, Surrey. Anyone interested in trying one of my posts before purchasing is welcome to contact me at info@makiwarapost.co.uk or phone on either 01483 459344 or 07948 277854 to arrange a session.

Payments

The degree of customisation we offer in our products means that we will often be supplying an individually specified product which will not be suitable for resale to another customer should the order be subsequently cancelled. We can, therefore, only ship an order once your payment has cleared. Our preferred payment method is for you to use a credit or debit card via the secure PayPal online payments system. If you use this method, payments will clear immediately and delivery will be within 14 days. If you choose to pay by cheque, your goods will only be dispatched after the cheque has cleared, so please allow up to 21 days for delivery.

Delivery

Posts, brackets and combination deals will be sent by courier next day service. Targets, straw and leather, will be sent by first class post. All prices quoted on this site include postage and packaging. Please note that all prices on this site include postage and packaging for UK deliveries only. If you can collect the goods yourself (from Guildford, Surrey) I'll be happy to quote you a price that excludes the P&P. For overseas customers, I regret that I can no longer offer to ship posts, bases and brackets overseas, the cost in time and hassle, as well as money, makes this a non-starter. I will continue to supply DVDs and straw and leather targets overseas and anyone interested should contact me and I will quote you appropriate rates. I recommend that US customers check out the Punch Things website for posts (see my links page).

We offer a 30 day money back guarantee which does not cover inappropriate use. While every effort is taken by us to ensure your new makiwara reaches you in pristine condition you should check the goods before signing for it.

Disclaimer

It is generally agreed that under the age of 21 bones are still developing and we therefore recommend that our products are NOT used by anyone under this age. If you are in any doubt about the appropriate use of a makiwara we recommend that you should speak to your sensei or a senior member of your karate club who has experience with makiwara training. We can not be held liable for any injury sustained while using one of our products. Note that most damage is caused by over enthusiastic use and hitting the makiwara as hard as you can before your fists are properly conditioned. So start by tapping and slowly build up speed and power over many weeks. This gives your knuckles time to harden.
